Republican’s Legacy
The Bhartiya Republican Paksha was created in the year 1984, its formation was result of many struggle under the banner of Samyak Samaj. The formation was in the presence of colleagues of Yashwant Ambedkar, and other senior activists from Dalit Panther.
Early years and Parliamentary Elections
Bhartiya Republican Paksha initiated many fronts and protests to address the issues like corruption in co-operative sugar factories to giving a call capture it. ‘Land for tillers, but what about landless labourer’ were the slogan of Republican Party, the struggle of Land Rights and Access to grazing land resulted in a Government Resolution in 1991 to give titles for grazing land tillers. Campaign on Mandal Commission, Concessions to Buddhists, Employment and land for landless labourers were the early issues on which the organisation focussed and formed base of Bhartiya Republican Paksha across Maharashtra.
After working on various issues and galvanising the party from districts to State, in the year 1994 Bahujan Mahasangha was formed at Mumbai, and Bharip Bahujan Mahasangha was registered as political party in the year and contested general elections, and stood as reckoning force in Maharashtra Politics, under the leadership of Prakash alias Balasaheb Ambedkar.
Diversify our Parliament
We recognise that unless our Parliament truly reflects what society is, it won’t serve the society, fair representation is what we believe in and committed to it. ‘Nahi bhi ho sankhya bhari, phir bhi milegi hissedari’.
